About Direct Pharmacy

Who we are

Direct  Pharmacy is a leading community pharmacy and healthcare provider with branches across the UK.

What we do

Direct Pharmacy is much more than a dispenser of medicines. Our patients and customers are our main focus and we endeavour to provide them with high quality healthcare products and services.

Prevention, management and treatment are at the very core of our business, and we aim to deliver high quality outcomes for chronic conditions, such as diabetes and heart health. We also strive to support local communities in making informed health decisions.

Our range of innovative and affordable products are aimed at improving community health, such as blood pressure monitors and allergy relievers, along with a suite of convenient professional health check services, including blood pressure and diabetes testing, and cholesterol and heart checks – all carried out in the comfort of a private consultation room.

A key partner of the NHS, we also work closely with local healthcare providers to develop and deliver commissioned services to address specific health needs within communities.

Professional Standards

Direct Pharmacy is run by qualified pharmacists and operates from registered pharmacy premises under the General Pharmaceutical Council ( GPhC )

Our charity partner

Our national charity partner is Alzheimer’s Society, the care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers. Find out more about their work here.

Environmental initiatives

At Direct Pharmacy we recognise our commitment to, and the challenges of, improving the environments in which we operate. Our environmental initiatives include:

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

As a retailer of various electrical and electronic items, Direct Pharmacy has a role to play in implementing the WEEE regulations. We accept WEEE for free from customers supplied with like-for-like products. This is regardless of whether this is done online or instore. You can find further information here.

Packaging

As part of the Packaging Regulations, Direct Pharmacy has joined a Compliance Scheme. As part of our Customer Information Obligation, we are able to supply our customers with information on a range of recycling issues. You can find advice and guidance variety of recycling initiatives here.

Batteries
If you have waste electrical and electronic items or batteries which you wish to recycle, you can find the closest recycling site to you here.

Single use carrier bag charge

On the 1st October 2015, England joined Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in charging for single use carrier bags. We currently charge 10p per bag.
This charge has been introduced to promote wider use of reusable bags to conserve our limited resources, encourage sustainability, and cut down on waste and litter. The proceeds raised by Direct Pharmacy will support our charity partner Alzheimer’s Society.

Exemptions to the single-use carrier bag charge:

All dispensary bags, as long as they are being used for prescriptions.

Closed parcels, e.g. for Click & Collect orders (if the parcel is subsequently put into a carrier bag then this additional bag is chargeable)
